Every tax is a pay cut. Every tax cut is a pay raise.

The Board of Selectman
are the only people who vote to place an
override request on the ballot. If an override shows up on the
ballot, they are to be blamed and should be replaced. No
questions asked.
I have carefully documented the financial details of the town costs for 1990 thru 1999, 2000 thru 2007 the surge in town employment, town health insurance costs, and the huge surge in school costs here, and here at the bottom of these pages. In addition, the town has an enormous collection of properties that it is simply hording. Taxes should be increased only in a situation of dire need. It is insulting to have your taxes increased by a municipality that is awash in state funding, as is the case in Framingham. Do not forget that for each override, you are committing this extra money for the rest of your life. Your retirement prospects are diminished over time. This projected growth of the town government shows that growth in spending is running at a sustained rate of more than six percent per year, which I believe is absurd.
Framingham does it's budgeting based on the highest expected revenue from state aid to municipalities. When it fails to materialize, they will blame the state. The table below shows how fast the town government has grown in the past 10 years. This growth is based on state aid to municipalities. municipalities. It was stupidity to base the town government on state aid. Using the crystal clear vision of a one-eyed man, the town government has built its house on shifting sand dunes. It is clear that the town spending is out of control and does not correspond at all to the population growth. It is merely a transference of wealth. Simply give them a loud resounding NO to their next request. |
