Extracurricular Activities
The education mandate is to educate our children, and does not cover any extracurricular activities that a student may choose to participate in outside of normal school hours such as football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, drama club, etc.

Our schools should educate our children, not watch them and supervise them after school.  All too often, parents will enroll their children in extracurricular activities as cheap day care. The Framingham school system offers free bussing and free uniforms for extracurricular sports.  This just encouraged parents to enroll their kids in sports as day care. As one parent said, "Not every student participates in a sport each season, but indeed a large number of students do take advantage of this valuable opportunity". Translate that loosely to "this is cheap day care".

Parents should pay for all extracurricular activities including time for personnel, bussing, and liability insurance arising from kid care.

More recently, the Framingham school system is contemplating fees for sports ($100 per sport) and bussing ($150 per year).
