I just finished reading "Selectmen vote to keep illegal immigrant foe
off HR board," and find it pretty self-serving for the selectman to leave
four openings on the board by declining the appointment of Joe Rizoli.
There is nothing wrong with having a mix of people that do not always see eye-to-eye on things. It oftentimes adds to a group so that they can see all sides and not just one side. Apparently the board wants only people that agree with them on everything and that is not right. It's called stacking your deck so you easily get what you want. I may not agree with Mr. Rizoli's approach or handling of things but at least he cares and is concerned enough to try to be involved and try to make a difference and he should be allowed to. Ms. Esty seems to be the only person on the board that has a sense of what is right. She is right now when she says the board made an error last night and she was right when she voted against the proclamation that the selectman came up last year welcoming people that break the law that they had no right to. I have watched selectman meetings at times and have been appalled at some things I've seen. I watched CCFILE people get up and felt the tension and rudeness of Mr. Sisitsky as he kept reminding them of their time limit and then watched another person not related to them get up and his attitude changed and she went on past hers. Maybe instead of ostracizing CCFILE the board(s) should learn to listen to what they have to say as well the people that they like what they say and work with them. They have some valid points even if their delivery isn't necessarily the best. Bottom line is, it looks like the board has again made a prejudicial decision. And Ginger, please keep standing up for what is right even if it you are the only one to do it. |
