The author of "Stop Racist Television" in the 8/2/05 MWDN is driven only by his own hatred of a few individuals in Framingham.  He's confused as to why Mr. Rizoli was barred.  He was not barred for hate speech or for being uncivil.  Mr. Rizoli merely requested information from the Board of Selectmen about a recent Human Relations Commission appointment -- certainly not a request which, as the writer suggests, would incite violence.

Television programs are for the personal viewing of those who choose to watch.  Apparently Mr. Kavanagh regularly chooses to watch the very same cable programs he claims are racist, bigoted and wants off the air.  If the programs are so despicable then why does he continually watch them?

He asserts that some of those speaking at selectmen's meetings or airing a cable program incite violence and 'create a misleading image of Framingham.'  Certainly he can't be serious.  Framingham's image of blight, violence, over-saturation of social services, a known criminal element, sex-offenders, etc. has nothing to do with a cable program or its producers.

There are many more problems to which this town needs to pay attention than worrying about people who have a message some don't want to hear or because some don't like how that message is delivered.  Either way, Framingham has serious problems that go far beyond than what's on cable.

It's a free country and if Mr. Kavanagh doesn't like what's on television, then may I suggest he pick up a good novel and start reading.
