| Calling an illegal alien an undocumented immigrant is like calling a burglar an uninvited house guest. |
|---|
| Prior to 1965, our immigration was oriented towards getting well
educated people and we had a preference for people of European
descent. About 250,000 immigrants came in each year and
illegal immigration was very low.
In 1965, thanks to our senator Edward Kennedy, the immigration laws were changed. We still prefered well-educated people but now, we were willing to take them from any country. One additional stipulation was added in the immigration laws that changed everything. A clause was added that made family unification very important and that there would be no numerical limits under family reunification. The family unification clause now allows over 1.3 million immigrants to come in every year resulting in the "brownification" of America. The growth of travel technology has also made illegal immigration more popular. By coming in illegally (under the fence), you can bypass any lines that the INS sets up. If you can get from Tijuana to San Diego, $90 gets you to Boston Logan and Framingham. The term used by the INS for illegal residents is "illegal aliens". The first meeting of CCFILE (Concerned Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement, headed by Joseph Rizoli and Jeffrey W. T. Buck occured on November 13, 2003. Since then, the issue of illegal aliens flowing into Framingham, has been a hot topic. Nancy Morse, executive director of the MetroWest Latin American Center, a woman who never attended that first meeting, tried to sue Joe Rizoli for creating a hostile workplace. To sue someone based on a meeting you never attended shows a remarkable lack of intelligence. The Town Counsel dismissed the suit off hand. The town has issued a proclamation stating that Framingham welcomes anyone into town. The impetus behind this proclamation was mostly Gerard Desilets, head planner for SMOC, Debbie Blumer, and Charles J. Sisitsky. |
