Every tax is a pay cut.  Every tax cut is a pay raise.
Citizens for Limited Taxation

This is an extension of an idea by Norman W. Clark of Holliston.

Given that there are no legal issues with this fund, I suggest that the Board of Selectman immediately set up a fund called:

The Friends of Framingham Fund
Showing You Care
Your generous contribution should reflect your strong interest in wanting heavy government intervention in your life.  This fund allows those compassionate folks to put their money where their mouth is and will show the rest of us, their strong convictions and commitment to their many social causes.

This will also show us stingy and mean spirited conservatives that these social activist are more than just windbags who want everybody else to pay for their compassion.

No contribution is too small or too big.  Each person making a contribution should be recognized by the town government.

A $1000 a year contribution gets your name on the town website.

A $5,000 a year contribution gets you a plaque given to you by the Town Manager at a Selectman meeting on Good Citizen's Day (April 15).

A $10,000 a year contribution will get you a plaque with your name on a classroom door at Framingham H.S.

A $50,000 a year contribution will get you a ride on top of our biggest fire truck on FlagDay.

I would obviously expect certain individuals to make extremely generous contributions to show us how much they care.  Here is a small list....

  • George P. King, Jr.
  • John M. Kahn
  • Charles J. Sisitsky
  • Esther A. H. Hopkins
  • Christopher M. Ross
  • Philip Dinsky
  • Richard Weader
  • Laurie Jean Carroll
  • Pamela Richardson

Such a show of true, meaningful compassion as opposed to empty rhetoric would go a long way toward convincing me that new taxes for everyone are justified.
