I wish to report that it has been a banner year for Framingham
finances.
- The town never raked in
so much money from the
increasingly impoverished taxpayer.
Beyond the 2.5% tax increase allowed, we had a
5% operational override ($7 million) in 2002.
Why cut services when the taxpayers have an endless supply
of money? The $27 million we got in
state aid that year simply isn't
enough to run our bloated government.
- The salaries of our
town officials are the highest
that they've ever been. We're almost matching salaries
of some Boston City officials. We may have the
highest paid government employees outside the state itself.
- We continue to pay
90% of health insurance
for all our full and part time town employees.
Nothing's too good for our employees.
- Our schools are costing
more and more, but Hey, we
don't produce results.
- We have lots of useless pieces of
real estate that we're holding onto, instead of selling
them to people who can make better use of them.
