Re: "Racial profiling in healthcare," Aug. 22, 2004: While I respect your opinion about racial profiling in health care, Ms. Medrano-Carillo, the enactment of section 1011 is not about profiling immigrants.  Our health insurance crisis in this country is aggravated by illegal immigrants who don't even belong in this country.  This country has its own poor uninsured Americans not receiving proper medical care. The so-called excess information required is no more an administrative burden than illegal immigrants burdening our social, environmental, and law-enforcing services.  The issue of communicable diseases from illegal puts our nation's citizens at risk as illegals are not health screened sneaking into our country.  They contaminate our restaurants, schools, daycares and workplaces.  America and its institutions should not cede their needs to the needs of illegals. So while I am sympathetic to the health needs of those being smuggled into this country, my advice is stay home so they don't have to deal with some American bureaucrat seeking personal information.
